Team

OxIS is organized around a team of investigators who are involved in the design, collection, analysis and publication of research. The project benefits from the active participation of Visiting Fellows and Research Students at the Oxford Internet Institute.

William Dutton (Principal Investigator)

William H. Dutton is Director of the Oxford Internet Institute, Professor of Internet Studies, University of Oxford, and Fellow of Balliol College, Oxford. He was previously a Professor in the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California, which he joined in 1980, where he was elected President of the Faculty. In the UK, he was a Fulbright Scholar 1986-87, and was National Director of the UK's Programme on Information and Communication Technologies (PICT) from 1993 to 1996.

Grant Blank (Investigator and Project Coordinator)

Grant Blank is the Survey Research Fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute responsible for the design, analysis and coordination of the Oxford Internet Surveys (OxIS) and World Internet Project (WIP) Surveys. Grant began his career as an independent consultant based in Chicago Illinois specializing in research design, statistical analysis, and database design. He previously taught at American University in Washington DC.

Helen Margetts (Investigator)

Helen Margetts is Professor of Society and the Internet at the Oxford Internet Institute. She is a political scientist of international standing in e-government and digital era governance, investigating the nature and implications of relationships between governments and the Internet and related information and communication technologies in the UK and internationally. She has published major research reports in this area for such agencies as the UK's National Audit Office, in addition to important books and articles.

Darja Leskovec

Darja Leskovec is a Survey Research Assistant at the OII working on Oxford Internet Surveys project. Darja holds a BSc and MA in Marketing from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Darja joined the OII in 2010 as a master's student. Her MSc thesis focused on the analysis of search results and their links structures for most widely used health-related search queries. She is currently a PhD student at the OII, where she further explores how people engage with, i.e. access, search for and appraise different information sources on the Web.
